It's a challenge for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a side that has accomplished all there is.

That it took as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It is hard for their hitters to possess a record if not provided the opportunity.

Finally, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy being given a platform to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the young family member of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "drove us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She guaranteed her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort can be debated.

Some will argue the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this performance came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in training, it has been a challenging time because it seemed my form was missing at all," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your fighting spirit activate and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and after that Healy was in motion.

"An opportunity to play and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

When she was dismissed Australia needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the belief to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, if necessary, we believe we can succeed."

That comment will be the last rival teams at this championship need to hear.

In recent days a sense they will win from any position has only strengthened - this victory following win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she subsequently stated she regretted not playing through the pain.

But while she later admitted those injuries have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is likely to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as skipper.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
